Jahnu Barua’s ‘Ajeyo’ to release nationally on Sep 19
Jahnu Barua’s National Award winning Assamese film “Ajeyo” (Assamese: অজেয়, English: Invincible) will hit the theaters of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune with the help of PVR cinemas on 19th September, 2014.
Ajeyo is a 2014 Assamese drama film directed by Jahnu Barua; and is based on the Sahitya Akademi Award winner 1997 Assamese novel Ashirbador Rong written by Arun Sharma and adapted as screenplay by the director himself. The movie was produced by Shankar Lall Goenka and stars Rupam Chetia and Jupitora Bhuyan in the lead roles. The film was released on 3rd January, 2014.
“Ajeyo” narrates the struggles of an honest, ideal revolutionary youth Gajen Keot who fought against the social evils in rural Assam during the years of Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom movement in India. The film won the Best Feature Film in Assamese Award in the 61st National Film Awards and also won the Best Film Award in the 11th Prag Cine Awards 2014.
Barua also said in a statement that he very pleased with the wide release of “Ajeyo” that it will be watched by the people of India due to PVR’s Director’s Rare initiative.
Ajeyo has received many good and positive reviews. The performances of Rupam Chetia and Jupitora Bhuyan were also highly praised.
